Practice staying in remembrance

Baba says, “Have so much practice of staying in remembrance that at the end you don’t remember anyone else except the one Father.

The nature of Brahmin life is to stay in remembrance. To take a Brahmin birth means to be tied in the bondage of remembrance. Just as worldly brahmins have various signs of that brahmin life, here, the sign of Brahmin life is remembrance. “Let it be natural to stay in remembrance.“, says Baba. For this, it shouldn’t be that I have separate remembrance and do separate service, both should be together.You don’t have that much time to do service and have remembrance independently“, Baba observes, “so remembrance and service should always be together.” It is in this that I have to become experienced and also attain success.

Even the term used is: Karma yogi. This term proves that ‘yogi’ means one who performs actions in the awareness of being an incorporeal soul. I cannot stay without performing actions even for a second; to take on a body, that is, to have sense organs means to perform actions constantly. In the same way, remembrance means I cannot stay without yoga even for a second. This is why the terms ‘karma’ and ‘yogi’ are used together. Actions are performed automatically, the sense organs have the natural practice for this. In the same way, Baba teaches, the intellect should have the natural practice of remembrance. From the beginning, the constant activity of the sense organs is to move the hand, move the legs; there is no effort involved. In the same way, at the present time, the task of the intellect from the moment of birth into Brahmin life is remembrance. “The original task of life is natural and easy“, says Baba.

One’s own task is never difficult; to do someone else’s task is difficult because I have to learn something new. But this task of remembrance is my task cycle after cycle. If I am still not able to experience the stage of being a constant yogi, “the reason is that you are engaged in sensual pleasure that is bringing you temporary attainment and divorcing you from eternal attainment; this is why you forget your original task.“, He explains. Even the rulers of this world, when they become engrossed with their wealth, and sensual entertainment, they forget their original task of ruling; they forget their sovereignty. If one is engaged in sensual pleasure, there is no yoga: this is why I find it difficult. Maya always attacks the intellect first; she first breaks the connection of the intellect. In the same way, Maya first cuts the connection of the intellect. Due to this, light, might, powers and knowledge: everything automatically comes to an end. In other words, she makes me unconscious, that is, she divorces me from remembrance and makes me forget who I am and Whose I am. “To prevent this, there should always be a guard of attention on the intellect, for only then will you become a constant, easy karma yogi.“, teaches Baba.

If you maintain such a practice, you can stabilize your intellect where you choose, He teaches. Have the thought and be stable, constantly maintain this spiritual drill with the intellect. One minute be a resident of Paramdham, the next be a subtle angel and at another moment take support of the sense organs and become a karma yogi. This is what it means to control the power of thought, He teaches. The thoughts are your creation, are they not? You are the creators, He reminds me. Whatever thought you choose, it should last only for that time. The intellect should be engaged wherever you choose. This is what it means to be a sovereign. There is still a lack of this practice. Therefore, practice this. Make your own program and check this: Did that stage remain only for the time that you had fixed? Hatha yogis, in order to still their sense organs, hold their arms or legs for a fixed time, thinking: This is how long I will keep my legs and arms up or down and keep the head up or down. They do it through force (hatha), whereas you do it with a feeling of having a right. This is why that is difficult and this is easy. Now increase this practice, He teaches.

Finally, Baba says, those who constantly remain together automatically have remembrance of each other because of that company. So, by being such companions, or by giving the intellect the company of Truth, there constantly will be the company of the Truth, naturally. Remembrance then would be easy, and because you have powerful company, you will have double force in every task. There will be success and zeal and enthusiasm in every action and the attainment of co-operation. The intellect must not have the company of anyone except BapDada. In order to become angels, your relationship with the Father must be very strong. Simply put your relationships right, says Baba. If you have all relationships with One, you are easily and constantly an angel. What else is there that the intellect could be drawn to? Is there anything that remains?
