Baba says, “To establish peace in the whole world is the Father’s task. No matter how many peace conferences etc. people have, there cannot be peace.“
Peaceless people cannot establish peace, that’s pretty straightforward. And yet it’s exactly what people try to do. They hold ‘peace conferences‘ and hand out ‘peace prizes‘ to each other. The belief is that military diplomacy equals peace; that if they can stop or even just control the conditions of war, then there would be peace in the world. They don’t understand and therefore don’t get to the root cause of war, they simply employ smarts and negotiating skills to decide who can make weapons and when they can use them. No wonder, the world continues to become more and more peaceless.
God comes at this most auspicious confluence age and gives me the knowledge of who I am, Whose I am and of the world cycle. Based on this knowledge, I understand that I am a soul, not the body; I am not a nationality, or a religion or a gender; I am a pure soul. I forgot this truth as I took birth after birth and got caught up in the differences that come with body consciousness. Something else that bound us all together- we are children of the same Mother and Father. When I forgot I am a soul, with that I forgot this truth as well. This is the biggest mistake, so to speak, in the story because when we forgot who and Whose we are, we lost our identity and sense of belonging. We became orphans with no guidance and were left to fend for ourselves- I learnt to hustle, cheat, rob, stab, and a whole slew of other tactics in order to fit into a changed world; a world of ‘I and mine’.
Based on the knowledge of the cycle that God gives me at this time, I also understand that these mistakes were bound to happen, it’s part of the drama. What is new has to become old and degraded and so both souls and the world have become old and degraded. We were meant to forget and God is meant to come and remind us. And so to try to establish peace in a world that is on the decline, is pointless. I simply need to sit in front of the picture of the cycle to understand this- the world has been descending from the golden to the silver to the copper and it is now the iron age. There cannot be peace in the iron age just as much as there cannot be heaven in hell or there cannot be day during the night- they are all mutually exclusive.
For there to be peace in the world, the entire age has to change from iron to golden age again; the cycle has to ascend. And while the cycle ascends at it’s pace and the golden age which was down comes back up again, we souls can only enjoy that new world if we become golden-aged human-beings again. And so, if I want peace in the world, what I need to focus on is becoming a golden aged human-being rather than on the futile exercise of trying to bring about peace in an old world. Instead of spending time and money on organizing conferences, I need to busy myself in self-transformation.
Turns out there are innumerable books and workshops dedicated to self-help too! But again, body conscious people cannot help others become soul conscious; they don’t know what that means themselves. Again from the knowledge of the cycle, I understand that at this point, every single human being, no matter who, is body conscious and under the influence of the five vices. The only one who is beyond the cycle of birth and death and thereby always in soul consciousness is God. He never forgets. He is therefore the only one positioned to remind souls of who they are, who He is, tell them their story and then return them to their original state of purity, their golden-agedness. This is also why only He is the Purifier. He purifies me through knowledge and yoga. When I imbibe the knowledge of who, Whose and the cycle, I start to remember. I consider myself a soul and connect with God; I recognize Him as the long lost Father, the Beloved. I become engaged in the task of self-renewal but taking guidance from the Father at every step and for every aspect of my life. He purifies me by giving me directions for how to think, speak, act, for my diet, lifestyle. He becomes involved in every tiniest aspect of my life and teaches me how to do it right. People in their iron-aged ignorance take a dip in the Ganges thinking it will rid them of their sins; how could the Ganges make me, the soul, pure? How could water transform souls?
It is said religion is might but then I had forgotten what religion means. It means the ‘righteous way to live’. Only God can teach me that, neither human ‘gurus’ nor a dip in the Ganges can help me. When I follow God’s directions for my life, I return back to my original state of purity or soul consciousness. Only His love and sustenance is the alchemy that can burn away sins, release me from the strongholds of the vices and liberate me. This is why God is called the Almighty Powerful. Where there is purity, there is freedom. Where there is freedom, there is peace and happiness. When I the soul transform, I inspire others to transform; they find what they have been seeking in my vision, face, attitude and behavior. And thus, God teaches, self transformation leads to world transformation. My peace brings peace in the world.
