An altruistic server

Baba says, “Only the one Father is altruistic. He doesn’t have any desires.

Brahmin life is a life of service. Brahmin souls cannot survive without service. The elevated method of protecting myself from Maya and for staying alive is service alone. Service also makes me an embodiment of remembrance. But, which kind of service? One is service through the mouth, that of simply relating what I have heard. The other is service of speaking through my mind, to become an embodiment of the words I have heard and then serving through my form- this, Baba says, is altruistic service, a service that is beyond limited desires. I have become an embodiment of the knowledge I have been taught and now service happens automatically– through my thoughts, words, attitude, vision, face and behavior. Then, there is no expectation of any return or of recognition, service just continues to happen constantly through my very being. This, Baba explains, is called Godly service, spiritual service.

An altruistic server is an incognito server, same as the Father while the other kind is a server for name. One moment I do service and the next, I earn a name: Very good! Very good! However, points out Baba, I do something now, I instantly eat the fruit but I don’t accumulate anything in my account. My words might sound good or entertaining to other souls but their hearts are not transformed; I don’t receive any blessings from the heart. On the other hand, even though an incognito server remain incognito in name at the present time, they remain constantly filled with the happiness of success. Because I am an embodiment of the words I am speaking, I myself am first of all filled with the treasures of which I speak to others. Secondly, because it is based on experience, my words carry the power to strike the target; they change hearts. I accumulate incognito blessings from the hearts of souls. Some children think: I am doing everything, but my name is not mentioned, whereas the names of those who earn fame in service with external show are mentioned a great deal. However, explains Baba, that is not the point. When I truly serve altruistically, I don’t expect praise or recognition. That is not my motivation or driving force. Like the Father, what motivates me is my concern that all my brothers and sisters should receive the Father’s introduction; that they should know that their Father is here, that they no longer need to stumble and fall; that they too can claim their inheritance of imperishable peace, happiness and contentment from Him. I become the instrument to show others the path. And so when I serve in this way, I experience a peace, happiness and sense of fulfillment that cannot remain hidden.” The sparkle of being a true server is definitely visible on their face and in their form“, says Baba.

Continue to serve and don’t think about earning a name. Think about accumulating.“, teaches Baba. “If no one asks about you now, that’s okay, they will ask about you for 2500 years.“, He points out. I have come here for an everlasting inheritance. If I eat the fruit of service for a temporary period, then the right to an everlasting inheritance will be reduced. “Therefore”, He says, “remain an altruistic server who is free from temporary desires and continue to move forward in service.” Even in bhakti, there is greater importance given to making incognito donations and to doing incognito service. Such a soul, Baba explains, will remain full within themselves; they would be carefree emperors– with no concern for name or fame. They won’t become entangled in the fear of losing out or spend their time strategizing about how to be seen and heard by the ‘right’ people etc. They would be a carefree emperor, that is, they would be seated firmly on their seat of self-respect of being a pure, elevated soul, the child of the most High Father. They have already attained the Father, what else remains? Therefore, they are seated on the throne of eternal and infinite attainment. This is known as being a world-benefactor server, explains Baba. Never move backwards in attaining success by having ordinary thoughts in the task of world service. Constantly attain success with renunciation and service and continue to move forward. Continue to accumulate in the bank of benefit for everyone by becoming an altruistic server.
