Baba says, “To become a Brahma Kumar or Kumari means to surrender.”
Brahma Baba became the first angel of God and He goes on to become the first deity. Shiv Baba says, “follow Father Brahma”. There are so many specialties of Father Brahma, one at every step but his very first step of courage was surrender. He surrendered everything. Surrender means I am no longer responsible. Father Brahma never thought about ‘why this happened?’ or ‘what would happen?’ or ‘how something would happen?’; there weren’t these questions of ‘why, what, when or how’. In a second, when the Father gave a signal, he took action. There wasn’t the struggle of ‘but I think…’, ‘but what about how I feel…’, ‘but this isn’t fair…’ or ‘but why would I do this…’ etc. He simply obeyed the Father. This is surrender.
He even surrendered his body. His mind was constantly Manmanabhav and this is how his every thought was successful. He thought thoughts according to shrimat and they became successful. Without any worry for the future, he surrendered all his wealth because he had the faith that this giving was not giving but it was to receive multimillion-fold. In the same way, he also surrendered his relationships, that is, he transformed all his lokik relationships into alokik. He didn’t leave anything but he transformed them. He surrendered the intellect that had the consciousness of “I” and the intellect of ego. This is how he became constantly pure, cool and a bestower of happiness with his body, mind and intellect. No matter what situations came up with his lokik family or from souls in the world, neither in his thoughts nor dreams, did he have the upheaval of doubt, even in a subtle form-not even the slightest thought.
“You are Father Brahma’s kumars and kumaris“, Baba reminds me. “So you too are surrendered.” I came to Baba, recognized Him as my Father and said from the heart: “My Baba” and Baba said: “I have become yours.” To make myself belong to the Father and accept myself as His child from the heart is surrender. Unless I become the child, I cannot surrender like Father Brahma did. Unless I see Baba as my Father, I will not follow His directions for my life. Unless I follow His directions, I cannot become elevated human being, that is, I cannot become a deity. To say “My Baba” and make myself belong to the Father is a deal I make from the heart, not just through words- that, I have been doing since the copper age! I have been singing His praise at the temples by mouthing the words: “You are the Mother and Father, You are the Friend…” but they were just words, I didn’t actually relate to God as the child. I didn’t relate because I didn’t recognize. Now, the Father has come and given me His own introduction and made me belong to Him. Now, I remember who I am and Whose I am and I truly fulfill that relationship.
To truly fulfill the relationship is to die alive; I have now been adopted by a new Mother and Father into a new family. I now have a new name – child of God, this is what I now answer to. I don’t consider myself a role, a bodily relationship, a title, a position, a gender, a nationality or any of the other aspects of body consciousness. My introduction is: I am a pure soul, a child of God. I don’t belong to a household, I am a child and so I cannot have a household of my own. I am a trustee, simply taking care of God’s family per His directions. This is surrender. It doesn’t matter whether I live at home or at the center- that’s just geography. It doesn’t matter whether I dress in white all the time or wear color- that’s just outward appearance. What matters is my heart- have I truly died alive? do I now consider myself simply a child of God or do I still lug around my previous life with me? am I obedient to my Father, is He my whole world? do I rely on Him for everything or do I still like to take charge of everything and make my own decisions based on what I think or feel is right?
Father Brahma only relied on the Father for everything; Shiv Baba was his one Strength and one Support. Through this, he built faith in the intellect and became the number one victorious soul. Because of his surrender, his intellect was always light; there was no burden. His mind was carefree- he was not in charge, it was not his decision, he simply followed the Father’s directions. And so, on his face, there was the clear sign of being a carefree emperor. No matter what the crisis, his attitude was: “This is the Father’s responsibility, not mine. I belong to the Father and the children also belong to the Father. I am just an instrument.” He remained unshakeable and immovable as only a soul who is surrendered with his mind and intellect could. He didn’t use his intellect to spin the discus of waste thoughts: “What will happen now?, will this happen or that?” etc. He only had powerful thoughts instead: “The Father is always the Protector and the Benefactor. He will take care.” This is surrender.
Father Brahma didn’t have any any corporeal example in front of him but I do- he is my example. The more powerful an example is, the easier it is to follow. “Just as Father Brahma surrendered and took the first step of courage, follow the father in the same way. Faith definitely brings victory. “, says Baba. “As a Brahma Kumar or Brahma Kumari, you too are surrendered just like Father Brahma. And you have now been photographed, so you cannot change. This photograph that has been taken, is not a physical one, explains the Father. This is a photograph that has been taken in the Father’s heart.”
