Baba says, “now that you have found Allah, you have to put yourselves the right way up, that is, you have to consider yourselves to be souls.”

When I left home about 5000 years ago, it was early morning, I was fresh and alert, ready to go to work. I, the soul am an actor by profession and I was fully aware of this. I got to the stage and started the day with the best scenes in the drama; I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Slowly, as the day progressed, morning became just after noon, the number of co-actors in the drama increased vastly, the stage got chaotic, I started to feel tired and started yearning for home. But the show wasn’t complete yet and so I continued to work, to act. But pretty soon, my tiredness changed to exhaustion and I started to even forget who I am.

I could no longer remember that I, the soul, am an actor playing the role in the drama. Rather I started to think of myself as the character I was playing, as the relationships, as the title, position, nationality, gender, accomplishments etc. Previously everyone was aware that we are souls acting our respective parts; there was selflessness, pure love, respect, camaraderie, there was sharing. Then, when everyone started thinking of ourselves as the characters we were playing, there was disunity, division, comparison, competition, envy, bitterness, resentment and all the other emotions that cause sorrow. Suddenly, I was no longer enjoying acting because I had forgotten that I was acting. I wanted desperately to become peaceful and happy again but couldn’t see how. I called out to God: “O Liberator, please come and liberate us from this sorrow. Please show us the way…”

God came and showed me the way: “You are hanging upside down!“, He told me. “You are not the role, you are the soul playing the role.“, He reminded me. “Now put yourself the right side up and all will be well again.” To put myself the right side up is to once again shift into the consciousness of: I am a pure soul who has played many roles through the course of this drama. I am not the role, this world is a stage, not my home. My home is the land of peace where I reside with God who is my Father. He is the Ocean of Peace, the Ocean of Love, the Ocean of Happiness…the Ocean of all Virtues. As His child, God’s nature is also my nature; His virtues are my virtues and His powers are my powers.

Having lived in the wrong consciousness for a long time, I didn’t use my virtues or powers for a long time; I have been living off emotions and impure feelings. Now, by belonging to the Father once again, I experience His virtues and powers practically and that enables me to emerge the virtues and powers within me. But I cannot make myself belong to the Father unless and until I put myself right side up again, that is, until I consider myself a soul again. The key word is ‘consider‘. I have to deliberately, with attention, shift my awareness of who I am. If I continue to be trapped in name and form, if I continue to chase after limited things, then, I cannot connect my intellect with the Father; I will try to remember the Father and people and things will come in front of me. I won’t be able to draw power, I will instead continue to lose power. “This is your new birth“, Baba explains. “You are born again to the Father, now renounce the old world in the sacrificial fire of the knowledge that the Father has given you.” Previously I wasn’t aware that I am a soul, now I am. Previously, I thought I was an orphan, now I have found the Father. So now, I get to let go of the old awareness and embrace the new, true awareness. The moment I do, I reclaim all that I lost.

Here, the main subject is remembrance, teaches Baba; Knowledge is very easy. To remember is to come back into the right awareness of who I am, Whose I am and what time it is in the unlimited cycle of time. It is now time to return home and then I will come back into the world when it is new again, explains Baba. This old world is definitely going to end and everything will become new again, He says. In fact, that’s why He is here – to enable me to sacrifice the whole old world into the fire of knowledge and usher in the new world based on shrimat- His elevated directions. His #1 direction is: Consider yourself a soul and remember Me alone.
