Baba says, “No one can do altruistic service like the Father does.”

Brahmin life is a life of service, Brahmins cannot survive without service. “The elevated method for protecting yourself from Maya and for staying alive is service alone. Service also makes you yogyukt.“, teaches Baba. But, which service?

One is service of the mouth, the service of simply relating what I’ve heard. This is mostly service to please the self, explains Baba. I do this to win praise for my great lectures, to become famous as a great speaker, to be seen as a knowledgeable soul etc. The other kind of service is where I don’t simply relate the words but I am in fact an embodiment of those words. I don’t simply talk about peace or love or humility but I am an embodiment of those virtues. Then, my very form serves automatically. Baba says, “One server is a server for name and the other is an incognito server.” A server for name does service one moment and the next moment, earns a name: Very good! very good! “However“, explains Baba, “you do something now, and you instantly eat the fruit; you don’t accumulate anything in your account.” An incognito server is an altruistic server. Even though an incognito server remains incognito in name at the present time, they remain constantly filled with the happiness of success.

Sometimes I get deceived into thinking: “I am doing everything, but my name is not mentioned, whereas the names of those who earn fame in service with external show gets mentioned a great deal.” However, explains Baba, this is the wrong way to look at it. While their names may get mentioned more, the ‘service’ they do, the words they speak doesn’t change hearts. Because their words are in their head, they haven’t actually embodied it, the words only reach the heads of the souls they speak to, not the hearts. However, the words spoken by an incognito server transforms hearts because they are spoken, not from the head, but from the heart; they are based on personal experience. And so while the servers for name receive praise and recognition, an incognito, altruistic server receives blessings from the hearts of souls. These blessings move me forward on my journey by bringing me a satisfaction and sense of contentment that is visible on my face as a sparkle. If a server for name earns his name here, then it’s as if they ate the fruit and finished it, and so they didn’t actually make their future elevated or imperishable.

And so BapDada says: “Continue to do service and don’t think about earning a name. Think about accumulating. Claim a right to the imperishable fruit. Each of you has come here for an everlasting inheritance, not a temporary, perishable one. If you eat the fruit of service for a temporary period, then the right to an everlasting inheritance will be reduced. Therefore, remain an altruistic server who is free from temporary desires.” And God Himself is the practical example of altruistic service. He is the Highest-on-High, the Almighty Powerful, the Ever Pure One and yet He comes into an impure body in a most impure world to transform impure souls. He comes with no pomp, no photo-ops or big announcements. In fact, only a handful of souls even recognize Him when He gets here! Then, there are all the self-proclaimed ‘gurus’ and ‘gods’ who perform temporary tricks in the name of ‘service’ and mislead souls into believing they are god. But God doesn’t get tempted into going on a world tour to set the record straight, or into performing tricks like bringing the dead back to life in the name of ‘service’ to become famous. Indeed, that would be the opposite of being the Highest-on-High, of being Almighty Powerful, of being God. Similarly, on the path of bhakti, temples are built for Him but He isn’t swayed by that either. “The unlimited Father rents a throne and makes you into the masters who are seated on the throne of the world. He Himself doesn’t sit on the peacock throne, but He seats you children on the peacock throne.“, explains the Father. This, is altruistic service.

“There is greater importance of incognito donations and of doing incognito service. Such a soul will always remain full within himself; he would be a carefree emperor and not be concerned about name or fame.“, explains Baba. Because I am always seated on my throne of self-respect and not on the throne of limited respect, I don’t feel subservient to anyone or anything to win respect. I am not worried about someone being better than me, or more talented than me nor am I trying to impress anyone. I am therefore free, care-free and an emperor of my own inner kingdom. “Such a soul is seated on an everlasting throne, on the throne of eternal and infinite attainment. This is known as being a world-benefactor server.“, explains Baba. Never move backwards in attaining success by having ordinary thoughts in the task of world service, He says. Even if the ordinary thoughts related to limited attainment come, I renounce them and continue to move forward on the path of true service. When I wear the crown of purity of heart and motives and the crown of the responsibility of world service now, I receive the bejeweled crown of world sovereignty in the future.
