Baba says, “Practice: I, an incorporeal soul, am a child of the incorporeal Father.“
The very first lesson of this Brahmin life is the answer to the riddle: Who am I? God Himself becomes my Teacher and teaches me that I am an incorporeal soul, a child of the incorporeal Father. I am not the corporeal body but an incorporeal soul who uses the corporeal body to perform actions. For half a cycle, I forgot this truth and operated in the consciousness of being a body. I identified as a name, a gender, a nationality, a status, a title, etc. These things separated me from my brothers, I viewed others as different than me, better or worse, and the division caused strife and heartache. Now God comes and reminds me that I am incorporeal and teaches me to remain in this consciousness. Then, I see everyone as brothers, the same as me. I feel love and compassion for everyone, I don’t judge or criticize, I understand and accept. Baba says, “Body consciousness compels you to commit sinful actions, soul consciousness makes you elevated.“
To be soul conscious means that I have the awareness of being the incorporeal soul while coming into the corporeal, that is, before coming into act, I first consider myself a soul. I, the incorporeal soul, am speaking with the support of the corporeal. The original form is the incorporeal and the corporeal form is the support. “This double awareness of the incorporeal and corporeal is powerful. While taking the support of the corporeal, don’t forget the incorporeal. It is because you forget that you have to make effort to remember.“, teaches Baba. In worldly life, I automatically remember my physical form, that I am so-and-so and that I am carrying out this task at this time. The task changes, but my being so-and-so doesn’t change nor do I forget it. In the same way, the original form that “I am an incorporeal soul” should always automatically and constantly be remembered whenever performing any task. “Here, you receive understanding.“, , points out Baba. “You children have now understood that you are souls, not bodies.” With the power of knowledge, I don’t forget the awareness of the body even when I try to forget it. “So then“, asks Baba, “how can you forget this soul conscious form? Ask yourself this and practice it.“, He says.
While walking, moving around and carrying out any task, check, He says, whether the incorporeal is carrying out the task with the support of the corporeal. Then I will automatically have the stage of being free from negative thoughts, the incorporeal stage and the stage that is free from obstacles. I will be liberated from making effort. “There is effort when you repeatedly forget this. Then you have to make effort to remember. Why do you forget? Should you forget this?“, asks Baba. “You forget your original form and remember the support! Are you not amused with yourself because of what you do?” When I forget who I am, I become distressed and perform actions that distresses others. “You are able to call the Father from the incorporeal into the corporeal because of your love. So, are you not able to remain stable in the incorporeal stage, like the stage of the One you love? BapDada cannot bear to see the children labor.“, says Baba.
And so BapDada comes and ends the labor of the mind first because the seed is the mind. Labor of the mind makes me experience laboring with the body as well. When the mind is not right, then when it comes to carrying out any task, I would say that I am unable to do it that day. I wouldn’t be ill, but I would feel that I have a fever of 103 degrees. However, when the mind is happy, I would say that nothing is a big deal. It is the same work, but the labor of the mind would also make me experience laboring through the body. Weakness through the mind brings about weakness in the atmosphere. “You have labored for 63 births. Now this one birth is a birth of pleasure, it is a birth of love, a birth of attainment, a birth of blessings. It is a birth of taking, receiving help. So then, why is there labor in even this birth?“, asks Baba. “Therefore, now transform labor into love. Finish it by knowing the importance of this.“
To finish laboring and become the master, I have to simply constantly continue with the one practice: “I, the incorporeal, am carrying out this task with the support of the corporeal.” I become karavanhaar and make it happen through my physical organs. “If you keep your real, incorporeal form in your awareness, the virtues and powers of the real form will automatically emerge. As your form, so the virtues and powers of that form automatically come into action.“, teaches Baba. When a kumari becomes a mother, then, in the form of a mother, the virtues such as serving, renunciation, love and tireless service and all powers emerge automatically. Similarly, by remembering my eternal and imperishable form, these virtues and powers will automatically emerge. The form automatically creates the awareness and stage.
To be body conscious is to be senseless; it makes me lose my identity, my belonging to the Father and all my inheritance of the virtues and powers. I was senseless for half a cycle. Now, the Father has come and made me sensible again.
