Baba says, “Only once do you children receive the Father’s love and it becomes imperishable.“
In the world, the thing that everyone needs today is love. Every soul, from childhood till death, wants love. Even a child who doesn’t understand anything wants love in its life. They want money later, but first, they want love. Is they don’t have love, they experience their life to be a life of hopelessness, a life without sweetness. Love is such an elevated feeling that people consider love to be God. They believe: “Love is God, God is love.” So love is so elevated, as elevated as they believe God to be. But while they consider God to be love, they don’t have the experience of why that is said. Previously, I too believed this and sang God’s praise as being the Ocean of Love but I too lacked the experience.
Now that God, the Father, has come into this world, He gives all His children love through the corporeal form in practical life. I had believed that He is love and thirsted for even just a drop of the Ocean, and so the first gift from God, the Father, is love.
Love is what gave me Brahmin birth. I am being sustained by God’s love, it is what is making me move forward. Is this my experience? Or do I feel unworthy of this love? As I move along on this path, I come face to face with my darkness, those sanskars that I didn’t even know existed; I had no idea how rude or arrogant I have been or how lustful I’ve been or how much I’ve hurt others or how selfish I’ve been. As I become aware of these strongholds, Ravan tries to use this realization to work against me. He whispers in my ear about how unworthy I am, how bad a person I am, that no human would want to have anything to do with me, let alone God. He tries to convince me that my only hope to win God’s love is to first overcome all these sanskars because then I’d actually be worthy of standing before God. Baba says, “The unlimited Father is merciful. Ravan is merciless; he shows you the path of sorrow.“
The first thing to realize is that Ravan is a liar, he has lied to me for half a cycle! God is my eternal Father, He loves me unconditionally. He is the only one who knows my full story– the beginning, middle and end. He understands where I’ve been, what I’ve been through, how I got to where I am and how to get me to where He wants me be. He has come for this very purpose– to show the path to His children. He has not come looking for ‘perfect’ souls with the perfect performance; He has come to purify impure souls and take us back home. “God’s love is your property.”, He reminds me; to the extent that I believe this truth, I will be able to defeat Ravan and claim my lost sovereignty back from him. God doesn’t love me because I am loveable, He loves me because He is love. He already knew of all my issues before He adopted me as His own child. In fact, He is the One showing me the weaknesses and teaching me how to overcome them! He does this not in order to make me worthy of His love, He does this because He already loves me so much that He cannot let me stay as I am. He wants me to become liberated from all the strongholds and live a victorious life filled with peace, happiness and prosperity. He wants me to live a life with not even a trace of sorrow, where there is no crying. He wants me to live a life filled with spiritual love…and not just for this one birth but for birth after birth after birth. But in order for this to become a reality, both God and I need to do our parts. He is already doing His by loving me, now I need to do my part and receive His love. His love is not something I ‘earn’ or ‘win’ when I become perfect, His love is what will make me perfect. Without the experience of His love, I cannot overcome the sanskars or the strongholds; His love is the alchemy, His love is the acceptance that enables me to forgive myself for the past and gives me the courage and strength to create a new future. I create that future by learning from the Father, by staying in His companionship and becoming like Him.
“The Father comes here to make you worthy of worship. It is Ravan who makes you into worshippers.“, explains Baba. To become like the Father is to emerge my original form, through the power of His love, and reclaim my sovereignty. When I do, I transform from a degraded human into an elevated deity, someone worthy of worship. However, if I believe the lies of Ravan, then rather than merge into the Ocean of Love, I simply stand on the shore and think about the Father’s love, yearn for it, while I try to “become perfect enough” to feel worthy of it. This is the sign of a bhagat, a worshipper. I always consider myself a sinner, as someone insignificant, as someone who is not worthy enough for God. Ravan tries to make me believe I am being honest or even humble but this is neither honesty nor humility; this is falsehood. No father wants his child to consider themselves as lowly or unworthy, they want their children to become their equals, even surpass them. God is here to make me a sovereign of the land of peace, happiness and prosperity. “Even I don’t become this!“, He says, “but I make you into this.” Let me fulfill His hope for me by simply accepting His love deep into my bones. Let me not remain thirsty after having come to the Ocean.
Once I’ve experienced God’s love, the thirst is quenched and the soul is satisfied. Till then, I will continue to wander from one relationship to another, one friend to another, but no matter how well-intentioned they might be, my thirst will never be quenched because their love lacks the power of purity of God’s love. With humans, there is always good, better and best; only God’s love is pure. It is untainted, selfless, unconditional and always available. It is my birthright, I just have to receive it. When I do, God takes the heart that had been broken into many pieces- between relatives, friends, accomplishments etc.- and makes it whole. He makes me whole again. Then, I don’t have to make effort to conquer attachment, that is an automatic outcome. “You receive love from the unlimited Father and so you don’t like the love of anyone else.“, He explains. “And because of being constantly merged in love, you cannot be influenced by any problems or any type of upheaval. You will experience yourselves to be constant destroyers of obstacles, embodiments of solutions to all problems and conquerors of Maya.“
You children receive the love of the unlimited Father now, only once, and you also remember this love a great deal on the path of devotion, He points out. Baba, all I want is Your love. You are the Mother and Father! You are my everything!
