Beware of the subtle forms of Maya

Baba says, “Remain so careful that you remain safe from Maya’s shadow and become Maya-proof.”

The aim of each child is to become number one, but the qualifications for that, Baba notes, are numberwise. The Bestower of Knowledge is one, the method of yoga is one, the easy and practical example before everyone is that of one sakar Brahma Baba, the method of service is also one and yet, the qualifications are numberwise. The main reason due to which the qualifications become numberwise is the one word: point, teaches Baba. To experience the point-form, second, to put the point to any wasteful thought, word or deed, that is, to put a full-stop. Thirdly, to churn the many points of knowledge and apply them in practical life at the right time. It is just one word ‘point’ but to put it into awareness and become an embodiment of it in all three meanings – this is where the difference is created. Everyone has the awareness part down but the difference comes in being the embodiment of this awareness.

Often I know ‘this is right and this is wrong’, ‘it should be like this’ etc. and yet, I am not able to use what I know to be right, at the right time. In other words, I have the light but lack the might. Just having the knowledge of right and wrong does not make a person ‘enlightened’, says Baba, you also have to be able to apply that knowledge at the right time. And so, Baba says, double underline the word ‘attention’.

One is to develop might to apply the knowledge but Maya too comes in many subtle forms. Maya has such a royal form that she makes me experience wrong to be right, cautions Baba. Something may be completely wrong but she transforms my intellect in such a way that she makes my real understanding and power of realization to disappear. Just as when someone performs magic, they completely remove the self control of others, in the same way, the royal Maya that makes my realization power disappear doesn’t allow me to understand what is real and what is illusion. She can make a lack of self-respect seem like false humility; I might dislike someone because I am jealous of their accomplishments but Maya makes my dislike seem justified; I have anger issues but Maya always makes it seem like the situation, the person, the atmosphere compelled me to become angry; I routinely compromise on my integrity and Maya makes it look as if it is okay, even warranted in today’s world.

And because of the influence of Maya, when someone gives me a signal about the wrong, I become a lawyer and argue that what I did was actually right, that it was justified, even noble! “This is why BapDada is making you doubly underline the word ‘attention’.“, explains Baba. “Constantly keep yourself safe from the subtle form of the shadow of Maya that transforms your power of realization, because Maya is especially carrying out her task in this form.” So, remain careful, He says. If a special soul gives me a signal, then instead of arguing, let me remove myself from that shadow of Maya and put myself, that is, my mind and intellect, under the support of the Father’s canopy of protection. The Father’s canopy of protection is the one word: point. Not to simply chant: “I am a soul, a point” but to actually stabilize myself in that form. When a negative thought or a jealous thought comes, I apply the point immediately and nip it in the bud. When I see something wrong, I don’t get influenced and get into questions (why? how?) or come into shock (What!, can this too happen!), I apply a full-stop.

Become a judge, teaches Baba, don’t become Maya’s lawyer. Recognize the subtle forms of Maya and remain so careful that you remain safe from Maya’s shadow and become Maya-proof.
