Baba says, “control your mind with the powers and be a constant conqueror of the mind and conqueror of the world.”
Today, the souls of the world are greatly unhappy. And so the service that is greatly needed is to radiate happiness such that other souls experience it. Just as everyone loves and feels that the white dress of Brahmins souls is so lovely and unique that they experience cleanliness, simplicity and purity through it- they can tell from a distance that I am a Brahma Kumar or Kumari- in the same way, Baba teaches, the sparkle of happiness and the intoxication of being fortunate should always be visible from the behavior and face of Brahmin souls. Then, souls that are thirsty for true happiness would experience happiness, if even for a moment, from my face and behavior.
For me to be able to radiate happiness through my face and behavior, I need to be happy in my mind because as they say, the face is but the index of the mind. And for the mind to be happy, the main thing is manmanabhav. When I stay in the awareness of who I am and Whose I am, I remain aware and full of all the treasures – the virtues, the powers, the knowledge. When I am full, the intoxication and happiness shone on my face and through my behavior. When I am full, it is a stage of self-respect. I don’t need or want or crave anything from anyone. I don’t have any limited desires for temporary, perishable things or have any expectations of anyone. I have the awareness that whatever I see through these eyes is all about to be gone and that the spiritual treasures I have received from the Father are what will remain with me. More importantly, I realize that it is the treasures I have received from the Father that have made me happy after such a long time of having experienced sorrow from stumbling in the darkness of ignorance. So I can’t wait but to share what I have received with my brothers and sisters.
Maya knows this too and this is why she brings obstacles in remembrance. She knows that if I become stabilized in the stage of manmanabhav, then she loses me forever. This is why it is said: Those who conquer the mind conquer the world. “You have deep love with your mind, but your mind doesn’t become concentrated and stable.“, points out Baba. Unless I have a concentrated and stable mind, I cannot experience a constant stage, that is, become manmanabhav. I try to make my mind concentrate but it usually wanders away in between into wasteful situations, wasteful thoughts and in wasteful interaction. “When you are able to stabilize your mind where you want, as you want and for as long as you want, that is called having the mind under control“, He teaches. The power of concentration and the power of being a master easily make me free from obstacles, then I don’t have to battle. I easily experience belonging to the one Father and none other. I automatically have love, benevolence and an attitude of regard for everyone. This is what self-respect does.
This stage of stability, of fullness, of being ignorant of all desires, of experiencing belonging to the Father and none other, of wanting to serve my brothers so that they too attain what I have attained – this is what the angelic stage is. Father Brahma was the example of the walking and moving angelic form. He was beyond the consciousness of the body. When he was performing actions, speaking, giving directions or giving zeal and enthusiasm, he was detached from the body; I experienced a subtle form of light. He was speaking and yet, it was as if he wasn’t even there. He was looking at me, and yet his vision was alokik or spiritual; it wasn’t a physical vision. He was beyond the consciousness of the body. “Let there be this same experience of uniqueness in your attitude, vision and actions.“, teaches Baba, “give others this experience like Father Brahma did.” For this, He emphasizes again, I must pay attention to stabilizing my mind. I must make my mind work under my orders. If I catch myself thinking or saying: “I didn’t want to do that, but it happened. I wasn’t thinking that, but it just happened. I shouldn’t have done it, but it just happened.”, then this is the stage of being controlled by the mind. “You don’t like such a stage, do you? Follow Father Brahma.“, He says.
In other words, the assignment is to increase the power of concentration. I have to remain set on the seat of the stage of being a master. “Therefore, remain set on the seat of the various elevated stages, this“, Baba explains, “is called the power of concentration with stability.” The soul is the master; the mind is not the master, the mind is the companion of the soul. “So“, Baba explains, “order your companion with love. Become a conqueror of the mind.“
