Become zero and be a hero

Baba says, “Be one who stays in the awareness of zero and hero.

Every child of God wants to be equal to the Father. There are two words, Baba says, that when I embody them will make me complete with all virtues like the Father – zero and hero.

A hero actor is someone who, like in the limited movies, is extraordinary. They may be playing a character born into ordinary circumstances – ordinary family, no access to much wealth or formal education- and yet, nothing about them is remotely ordinary. The audience instantly recognizes them as the hero of the movie. Everything about them is exceptional- their vision, the face, the attitude, the speech/dialogues, the way they carry themselves, and their actions.

No matter what comes before a hero, they never seem to panic, get stressed or anxious. They always seem to firmly believe in their bones that whatever the situation or circumstance, however tough the opposition, they will emerge victorious. A hero is never shown going through life complaining, crying or sulking about how life has been unfair to them. They don’t start wringing their hands when things go wrong or run from door to door asking others what they should do. They are shown as portraits of calm, of faith in themselves and in the outcome. They also don’t seem to concern themselves with the gossip of the town, or care remotely about what people think about them. They are too busy working toward their aim- of reaching their highest potential. They are determined people, not prone to distractions willing to put in the time and effort to attain their goal. They also never compromise on their values – no matter how big the storm or how great the temptation. And the fundamental thing that makes them a hero- their every thought, word and action brings benefit to many.

But“, teaches Baba, “in order to play a hero part, you first have to consider yourself a zero.

There is nothing associated with a zero– no sanskars of the past, no hidden agendas, no limited desires, nothing ‘I’ or ‘mine’. A zero, by definition, does not identify as anything- a name, social status, job title, nationality, gender, religious or political beliefs etc. A zero is completely clean, light, pure. It has no biases, always a detached observer. The stage of a detached observer means that the soul is stable in the stage of being a master, detached from the body. I don’t get caught up in the scene, which is what would cause the wringing of hands, the complaining, crying, and blaming. No, I watch every scene and then do what I need to do, leaving the rest to the Father. “At the end, when there are upheavals, it will only be by having the stage of a detached observer that you will be victorious.“, teaches Baba.

So how do I become a zero? Manmanabhav– consider yourself a soul and remember the Father. I am a point, the Father is the Point and whatever happens, apply a point. This practice enables me to constantly remain aware that I am just an actor playing a part in this world drama. I am not the role I am playing and nothing of this world is mine. I am a soul and mine is one Baba. That’s all. This practice makes me powerful because my energy is conserved, never wasted. This is why the moment you place a zero next to any number, the value of that number multiplies; the more the zeros, the greater the value.

A hero also uses two special powers to play their part – ruling power and controlling power. A hero never speaks dialogues such as: “I didn’t want to say/do that…it just happened.” or “I know that is wrong but what to do, it’s my nature…”. They also know when they need to adopt a certain form- a loving form or a form of being lawful, a destroyer or a form of coolness. The virtues and powers obey their command because the hero is always seated on their seat of self-respect- I am a child of God and therefore, I am master almighty powerful.

A hero knows that this is a special moment and that they have a special part to play; they know they have a calling on their life to help God Himself transform this world into heaven. If they weren’t special, why would God Himself be teaching them? Why would they be taught how to be an emperor? Why would they be asked to practice being an embodiment of the most elevated code of conduct? Why do they- out of the billion people- get called upon to serve? A hero knows and rises to the occasion. He pays attention to his every move because He acknowledges that others will copy him. While the heroes of those movies constantly check themselves in physical mirrors, the one with the hero part in the unlimited drama constantly checks themselves in the mirror of God’s knowledge. If he performs actions in an ordinary way- in fear, worrying, stressed, full of questions etc.- then he would not be a hero anymore. He meets the moment knowing that with God, his victory is guaranteed. And so, the song that constantly plays in their hearts is: Wah drama! Wah Baba! and, wah my part!

The Father is the Hero Actor and so every action He performs is praised and worshipped. “In the same way“, He explains, “every action that all of you co-operative souls who have hero parts becomes worthy of praise and worthy of worship.” So become zero and be a hero.
