Baba says, “I will make you into the kings of kings with this Raja Yoga.“
Yoga is known worldwide today, people know it to be the ancient practice of Bharat. Yoga is referred to as Bharat’s gift to the world. However, in reality, the full word is Raja Yoga– it is this that is mentioned in the Gita but people have lost the first half of the word and simply refer to it as ‘yoga’. Due to this yoga has become more of a physical practice rather than a spiritual one. By performing asanas (postures), one might become healthy physically but it does nothing for the soul. With the practice of Raja Yoga, however, I attain self-sovereignty, that is, I become the king of my inner world.
To the extent that I have sovereignty over the self now, I will have sovereignty over the world in the future because it is through self-sovereignty that I attain world sovereignty for many births through the golden and silver ages. Then, there are kingdoms from the copper age onwards as well but those are not of world sovereignty; they only become the kings of states. Only in the golden age is there one kingdom over the entire world. I attain that through the effort I make at this time to attain sovereignty over the self- it is what makes me eligible to become a ruler of the world.
A kingdom – whether of the self or of the world- means the attainment of all rights. A Raja Yogi by definition means a yogi who is to become a king. In the world, when a king issues an order to his subjects to carry out a task, they do it. In the same way, here, when a Raja Yogi soul, who has rights to self-sovereignty issues an order to any of the physical organs with the power of yoga, then each organ functions under my control. Not just physical organs but even my subtle organs – mind, intellect and sanskars- function according to the directions of I, the soul. I am able to stabilize my mind, that is, my thought power wherever and for however long I want. I am not subservient to my sanskars but have control over them and use them with elevated principles. I form relationships and connections with others on the basis of my elevated sanskars, I don’t say things like: “what can I do, I got angry…I didn’t mean to but it just came out..”. No. I decide which sanskar to emerge and which one to merge. If a physical organ deceives me- sometimes my eyes see things they are not supposed to, my ears hear things that are wasteful or negative, my speech comes out wrong or hurtful- then too, I wouldn’t be acting as a self-sovereign. I would be called a effort-maker for self-sovereignty, not as one who has a right. A self-sovereign can never be deceived, they can never be subservient.
By that same definition, a self-sovereign would never worry or be fearful or anxious. They would be carefree emperors because they have the knowledge of every aspect. The greatest emperors are those who are free from any worry, and the greatest kingdom is the kingdom of the land that is free from sorrow. The right to self-sovereignty where I am not deceived by any of my subjects, that is, by my organs, where I live as an embodiment of knowledge and thereby free from worry and sorrow- compared to having a right to this kingdom, the world sovereignty is nothing. The right to this kingdom is elevated and one that gives happiness. It is completely free from sorrow…even while living in the land of sorrow! “So constantly remain on this throne of self-sovereignty, do not come down“, teaches Baba.
To stay seated on the throne always means to have controlling power and ruling power. To be a king means to have ruling power. If I call myself a king but lack ruling power, no one would accept me as a king. So self-sovereignty means ruling and controlling power. If a waste thought comes and I even realize that it is wasteful but am still unable to stop its force, then I lack controlling power. If a car needs to brake at a certain point but goes past it and brakes later, then that would lead to an accident. So controlling power means that I am able to stop any thought when I want to, not after. I live a life in liberation, not a life of battle. I constantly stay in pleasure, I don’t let myself get confused by anything: “why?”, “What?”, “how?” because if I am confused, I am not enjoying myself. At the confluence age, Baba says, there is nothing but pleasure.
In the golden age, even though a king is called a king, he takes the form of a supremely loving father. The kingdom functions as a family. Everything is carried out on the basis of love and relationships, there is no ‘law & order’, per se. There is no trace of sorrow, whether king or subject, there is no peacelessness or sorrow. They are totally ignorant of even those words. Similarly at the present time, BapDada uses the system of love and shrimat with me. If I continue to follow shrimat, there is no need to give strict orders to myself. When I forget the principles, then I make myself move on the basis of iron-aged principles. I also become full at this time and this is how the fullness of prosperity that I receive from God is attained for the many births of the golden and silver ages.
By following God’s shrimat, I become His helper in the task of ushering in the golden age. As an outcome, I receive the prize of the golden aged sovereignty- there will be purity, peace and prosperity there as a result of the purity, peace and prosperity I attain here. And so Baba says, “Don’t ask Me for mercy or for blessings, instead make effort to become pure with the power of yoga. Renounce your body and all bodily relations and remember the one most beloved Father and you will receive the prize of the sun-dynasty kingdom.“
