Baba says, “Become the most elevated human beings, equal to the Father, by following the highest codes of conduct.”
The aim of this study is to be equal to the Father, that is, to be His most elevated creation. A teacher would make his students similar to himself by teaching them all he knows, by imparting onto them all the tips and tricks. My teacher is God Himself! He is the Highest-on-High, the most elevated and so His study is also the most elevated because it is designed to make me like Him. He gives me the codes of conduct; when I follow them, He guarantees, I will become the most elevated being. “This is why you are called the most elevated beings who follow the highest codes of conduct (maryada purushottam).”, He explains.
The things that get in the way of my being an elevated human being are people, the atmosphere and old sanskars. The easiest way to remain safe from tamoguni human beings, the tamoguni atmosphere and sanskars is to simply follow the codes of conduct. “Those who stay within the line of the codes remain free from having to labor. It is when you step outside the line in your thoughts, words or deeds that you have to labor.“, explains Baba. This is why Sita had to labor so much in the Ramayana. Not only did she have to labor but then God had to work hard to bring her out of her self inflicted suffering. “Every thought, every second, every breath of this confluence aged life is the greatest treasure“, Baba reminds me, “when you lose a second, you don’t just lose a second, you lose multi-million more.” When I step outside the code and think a thought, speak a word or perform an action according to the dictates of my own mind, then I pay a steep price by losing my stage, losing all my treasures of peace, happiness and contentment and experiencing sorrow, guilt, regret, shame etc. Then, not only does it take time to reclaim my bearings but it feels like an uphill, exhausting, sometimes, impossible climb. And so Baba says, “Don’t become careless in adhering to the codes of conduct. They are for your own safety.“
I have received the codes of conduct for every step, from amrit vela until bedtime, from BapDada. By taking every step according to the codes of conduct, I automatically become the elevated human being who follows the highest codes of conduct. “Most elevated”, by definition, implies that I am higher than all ordinary human beings. And so check, says Baba, if your awareness is elevated. When my awareness is elevated, my attitude, vision and stage are automatically elevated. The elevated awareness I maintain throughout the day is: “I am an elevated soul and all others are also souls, children of the one elevated Father.” This, Baba teaches, is the line of the code of conduct for awareness. A variety of souls play a variety of parts- this is the first lesson that should always remain in my awareness in a natural way. Even while looking at the body, I should see the soul. This is not about chanting: “I am a soul, they are also a soul…” rather, it is being an embodiment of this truth. When I follow this code of conduct for my awareness, then this awareness makes me constantly free from all obstacles and I become an instrument to spread powerful vibrations of this elevated awareness, and through this, others also become free from obstacles.
“This elevated awareness is what brings you power.“, explains Baba, “constantly revise this blessing at amrit vela.” Before I start any task, let me sit on the powerful seat of this awareness and then decide if the task is wasteful or powerful and only then act. Then, after performing the act, let me check if the action remained powerful from the beginning till the end. Most children start the task in a powerful form but then either in the middle or towards the end, Baba points out, they go in the direction of performing wasteful or ordinary action. Later, I realize that I shouldn’t have done what I did. However, to finish the action and then think is not the qualification of being a soul who is the knower of the three aspects of time, teaches Baba. Therefore, He says, “become an embodiment of awareness, that is, an embodiment of power, in all three aspects of time. Never leave your powerful stage. This seat is the seat of a swan.“
The specialty of a swan is the power to discern. With the power to discern, I will constantly continue to move forward in the stage of being the most elevated human being following the highest code of conduct. Constantly keep with you this blessing of the seat and the Godly title of “the most elevated human beings who follow the highest codes of conduct.”
