Become a diamond

Baba says, ‘I have come to make you into diamonds‘. What are some of the characteristics that make a stone ‘a diamond’?

As it tuns out, each diamond is unique. It’s complex characteristics cannot be duplicated, and no two diamonds can ever be the same. Each stone is endowed with a personality and character uniquely its own. Do I spend time comparing myself to others and evaluating myself based on some false standard? or do I celebrate my own uniqueness?

A diamond is one of the hardest substances, making it resistant to deterioration. Even when worn everyday, it never loses its shine and can be passed down generations. Baba says, ‘you are Shiv Shaktis. You receive strength from The Almighty, what are you afraid of?‘. His remembrance emerges the spiritual powers within us such that we become strong and resistant to any and all storms of Maya. We become His instruments to show the way to and inspire other souls to become strong as well.

Baba says, ‘even though I teach everyone the same lesson at the same time, only a few pass with honor‘. He finds us as stones and works on us day and night to transform us into priceless diamonds. Not everyone becomes one just like the physical gem, it is limited. This is understandable once you learn that more than 250 tons of ore need to be blasted, crushed and processed to yield just one carat of rough diamond. Further, only 20 percent of all rough diamonds are suitable for gem cutting.

Baba says, ‘you carry the weight of sins from half the cycle. Only the fire of remembrance can burn away those sins‘. What is the quality of my remembrance? How big is the fire?

I need to be an active student, engaged fully and deeply in this knowledge. Baba says, even those that have come late to this path can become diamonds, if you follow my Shrimat (directions) at every step. I will be faced with many test papers through the course of this journey- a lot of them presented by my own sanskars. Do I have the endurance to weather the storms?

The more facets there are to the stone, the more brilliance that shone through. Incredible amounts of patience, skill and consideration are required to transform one of the hardest materials into a beautiful and valuable polished gem. We have the Most skilled and Expert Diamond Maker. He is working on me to remove all my flaws, all my defects and polish me into a beautiful, most valuable gem. Am I willing to surrender to the Expert? or am I afraid of the process? In that case, I will remain a rough stone with potential and yet….no value.

Even minor inconsistencies in symmetry and proportions can make the difference between a gorgeous diamond and a dull, lifeless stone. Baba says, ‘don’t become careless or lazy in this study‘. The whole basis of becoming a diamond from a stone is knowledge and remembrance. The more I imbibe the knowledge and become powerful, the more I inspire others to become diamonds too. They see the shine, the beauty and want it too.

Baba says, ‘I have come to make you into diamonds’. Now it is up to me to decide if I want to be one.
