Baba says, “where there is faith, victory is already guaranteed in every thought and every task.”
Brahmins means those whose intellects have faith; the very foundation of Brahmin life is faith, and the proof of faith is victory. “So are the percentages of faith and victory the same?”, asks Baba. Everyone experiences a greater percentage of faith and a lower percentage of victory even though the percentage should be equal. When there is a foundation being placed, all four sides are checked to ensure they are equally strong. If one side is strong but other three sides are weak, then the whole foundation is weak and there cannot be success, only defeat and loss. Here too, in the case of the foundation of faith, there are four sides, explains Baba.
- Full faith in the Father: Whatever He is, however, He is. To understand and implement the Shrimat Baba has given accurately, to accept it and to follow it.
- Full faith in the self: To know the elevated fortune I have, the complete elevated self-respect of I, the soul. To accept it and follow it.
- Full faith in the family: To accept it and be part of it.
- Full faith in the time: To recognize that this is the most elevated and auspicious confluence age; to accept it and to move along with it.
When my intellect has full and unshakeable faith in all these four aspects, then I would be known as one with full and accurate faith. These four aspects are like the four pillars of the foundation of faith. If there is faith in the Father but no faith in the self or in the family, then I will sometimes remain strong and sometimes become weak. And when someone is weak, they cannot be victorious. This is why, Baba explains, there is a difference between faith and victory.
I am quick to say: “Baba, I am Yours and You are mine.” But then when something happens, I also say: “Baba, You are mine, aren’t You!?” The Father says: “Yes, whatever you are, however you are, you are Mine but is Baba yours as He is and whatever He is?” If I had accurate faith in Baba- as He is and how He is- then I would never experience any upheaval and feel the need to confirm with Him if He is indeed mine or not. It’s one thing to say that I have complete faith and another thing to actually have it. Another sign of accurate faith is to follow Baba’s Shrimat accurately. When asked I say: Of course, I am Baba’s child but then a child ought to follow its father’s directions. When it comes to that, I selectively follow those directions that suit me and ignore the rest. Then, when things inevitably go wrong, I remember once again that Baba is my Father and run for help. Faith isn’t simply ‘knowing’ that Baba is my Father is theory, the sign of faith is that I actually follow through on what I know.
Similarly, when I lack faith in the self, I say things like: “I don’t know why this happens to me. I don’t know what my fortune is. I don’t know if I am worthy of Baba’s help or not. I don’t know if I will ever be successful or not.” When asked, I say my title is ‘master almighty authority’ because I am the child of the Father who is the ‘Almighty Authority’ and yet, my language is full of ‘I don’t knows’. I have been given the knowledge of all three aspects of time, that is, I am trikaldarshi. This means that when I say something or perform an action, I have the ability to know past, present and future. However, often I find myself saying: “I shouldn’t have spoken that, but I did”, or “That shouldn’t have happened, but it did”. This would signify that I actually didn’t know the outcome of my words and actions. When I have faith in the self, then I also have faith in my ability to know what to say and what not to, what to do and what not to.
Then, sometimes, when I experience conflict within the Brahmin family, I say to Baba: “Baba, I was inspired to follow this path after seeing You. You are mine and I am Yours. But I didn’t sign up to be with this Brahmin family.” I find it easy to get on with Baba but hard to get on with the family. But then Baba asks: “Are you a soul that is going to reside in the land of liberation or are you going to go into liberation-in-life?” The very fact that I am a Brahmin means that I have signed up for liberation-in-life and liberation-in-life, by definition, means that I have to be liberated while doing life, while interacting with people, while going about my business. Even when I go into heaven, it isn’t that there will just be Brahma, Saraswati (the king and queen) and me! There will be the family there too and I have to learn to get on with the family and live harmoniously here. I cannot learn this there, it has to be learnt and mastered here.
To be part of the rosary means to be part of the family and so to have thoughts such as: “I have made a promise to Baba, I don’t owe anything to the brothers and sisters” doesn’t work. This Brahmin life, Baba reminds me, is a life of pure relationships, a life of becoming part of a rosary. Therefore, if there is any doubt about the Brahmin family, if there is any waste thought, then that would make my faith fluctuate, it would bring me into upheaval. “To think thoughts such as: “Baba is good, this knowledge is good, but these teachers are not good, the family is not good” are not the words of someone whose intellect has faith”, teaches Baba. Faith means I know that these are my brothers and sisters, children of the same Father and that while the behavior might be less than appropriate, everyone’s intent is to be a good child of Baba, to make Him happy. It is to recognize that in a family, not everyone will be alike, they will be different. My duty is to, like the Father, be a master ocean of love and tolerance.
“So now, focus on self-transformation, do not worry about transforming others.”, teaches Baba. Become one with accurate faith in all four aspects. BapDada wishes to see every child become equal and elevated. He wishes to see every child as an image of success, not as an image of effort. The foundation for being an image of success is to be one with a faithful intellect.
